Exploring the relationship between lean construction and environmental sustainability: A review of existing literature to decipher broader dimensions

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of lean construction and sustainable construction is presented, which provides insights into important and distinct linkages between lean and the environment and further motivates the expansion of the boundaries of the lean construction philosophy into the operation phase of a project's life-cycle where its influence is found to be sparse.
Journal ArticleDOI

A framework for dynamic life cycle sustainability assessment and policy analysis of built environment through a system dynamics approach

TL;DR: In this article, a system dynamics-based methodological framework for Dynamic Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (D-LCSA) capable of incorporating the dynamic changes in the building characteristics with time and capturing the interactions amongst different sustainability indicators is introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

A simulation-based investigation of sustainability aspects of 3D printed structures

TL;DR: An attempt to compare two parameters closely related to environmental sustainability, namely thermal comfort and building energy efficiency of residential buildings built with 3D printable concrete, M25 concrete and conventional brick masonry indicates that the performance of 3D Printable concrete as the building envelope is lowest in both these criteria, in comparison to other materials.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Integrating Lean Construction and Sustainability via a System Dynamics Framework

Ann Francis, +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a conceptual framework based on system dynamics modeling approach for the integration of lean and sustainability is proposed, which provides a better understanding to the industry practitioners about the scale of lean implementation demanded to ensure sustainable development.
