Journal ArticleDOI

Multicentury, regional-scale patterns of western spruce budworm outbreaks.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used tree ring chronologies from 24 mixed-conifer stands to reconstruct the long-term history of western spruce budworm (Choristoneura occidentalis) in northern New Mexico.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Tree-Ring Reconstruction of Western Spruce Budworm History in the Southern Rocky Mountains

TL;DR: Une etude chronologique (de 1700 a 1983) des cernes de 10 peuplements melanges du sud des Montagnes Rocheuses du Colorado and du Nouveau-Mexique, a ete effectuee for reconstituer la date, la duree and l impact on les croissance radiale des attaques de Choristoneura occidentalis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fire severity, size, and climate associations diverge from historical precedent along an ecological gradient in the Pinaleño Mountains, Arizona, USA

TL;DR: The authors used a gridded fire scar and demography sampling network to reconstruct spatially explicit estimates of fire extent and burn severity, as well as climate associations of fires from individual site to landscape scales.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sampling bias overestimates climate change impacts on forest growth in the southwestern United States

TL;DR: A new representative dataset is used to show that the International Tree-Ring Data Bank in the U.S. Southwest overestimate regional forest climate sensitivity by 41–59%, because ITRDB trees were sampled at warmer and drier locations, both at the macro- and micro-site scale, and are systematically older compared to the FIA collection.
Journal ArticleDOI

A tree-ring reconstruction of western spruce budworm outbreaks in the San Juan Mountains, Colorado, U.S.A.

TL;DR: In this article, tree-ring records were used to reconstruct spatial and temporal patterns of western spruce budworm (Choristoneura occidentalis Freeman) outbreaks in mixed conifer forests of southern Colorado.
