Journal ArticleDOI

Inferring global species richness from megatransect data and undetected species estimates

TL;DR: The use of cumulative percentages of ‘new’ species over large geographic areas (‘megatransects’) as a means to overcome the problem of unjustified extrapolation from regional to global patterns is explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seropositivity of influenza A H1NI in mothers and infants following maternal vaccination with trivalent seasonal influenza vaccine after the 2009 pandemic.

TL;DR: Vaccination during pregnancy yielded best seropositivity, whereas receiving a trivalent seasonal influenza vaccine before conception can offer better seroprotection to mothers and newborns than no vaccination.

Rapid recovery of spontaneous baroreflex after sevoflurane anesthesia in ambulatory surgery.

TL;DR: Sevoflurane anesthesia depresses SBR and provides a quick SBR recovery upon emergence and patients regained their conscious baseline baroreflex sensitivity within ten min after sevofl Lurane was switched off.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of perioperative dexmedetomidine infusion on renal function and microcirculation in kidney transplant recipients: a randomised controlled trial

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of dexmedetomidine on postoperative renal function and sublingual microcirculation in kidney recipients was investigated, and the authors found that early postoperative kidney function was better in kidney transplant recipients receiving dexmedetermidine infusion, but total vessel density was not significantly different between the intervention and control groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Confidence Intervals for the Parameters of the Weibull and Extreme Value Distributions

TL;DR: In this article, the mean lengths of three exact confidence intervals for the parameters of the Weibull and extreme value distributions were compared for complete and type II censored data, and the unconditional method using pivotal quantity based on the maximum likelihood estimator generally has the shortest mean length, though the three results agree fairly closely.
