Journal ArticleDOI

Antagonism of certain elements essential to plants toward chemically related toxic elements.

TL;DR: The hypothesis developed to explain the quantitative aspects of selenate-sulfate antagonism was based on the assumption of unselective absorption and utilization of the two ions by virtue of their chemical similarity, and experimental evidence on which these relationships were based is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative toxicity of selenates and selenites to wheat

TL;DR: Experiments were designed to compare the toxicity of selenites and selenates in water cultures, and the contrary evidence from the single soil experiment referred to above did not seem sufficient to controvert the reports to the effect that the selenite are the more toxic.
