Silent vs Vocalized Articulation for a Portable Ultrasound-Based Silent Speech Interface
Victoria M. Florescu,Lise Crevier-Buchman,Bruce Denby,Thomas Hueber,Antonia Colazo-Simon,Claire Pillot-Loiseau,Pierre Roussel,Cédric Gendrot,Sophie Quattrocchi +8 more
TL;DR: Isolated word recognition tests performed with fixed and portable ultrasound based silent speech interface equipment show that systems trained on vocalized speech exhibit reduced performance when tested on silent articulation, but that training with silently articulated speech allows to recover much of this loss.
Developing an acoustic-phonetic characterization of dysarthric speech in French
Cécile Fougeron,Lise Crevier-Buchman,Corinne Fredouille,Alain Ghio,Christine Meunier,Claude Chevrie-Muller,Nicolas Audibert,Jean-François Bonastre,Antonia Colazo-Simon,Céline Delooze,Danielle Duez,Cédric Gendrot,Thierry Legou,Nathalie Lévêque,Claire Pillot-Loiseau,Serge Pinto,Gilles Pouchoulin,Danièle Robert,Jacqueline Vaissière,François Viallet,Coralie Vincent +20 more
TL;DR: The requirement of a structured and organized computerized platform in order to store, organize and make accessible (for selected and protected usage) dysarthric speech corpora and associated patients clinical information is outlined.
Articulatory strategies for lip and tongue movements in silent versus vocalized speech
Lise Crevier-Buchman,Cédric Gendrot,Bruce Denby,Claire Pillot-Loiseau,Pierre Roussel,Antonia Colazo-Simon,Gérard Dreyfus +6 more
TL;DR: This study showed a reduced duration of words, a general hypoarticulation for lips, but non significant changes for tongue movements depending on the type of vowel and consonant in silent speech.

The DesPho-APaDy Project: Developing an Acoustic-phonetic Characterization of Dysarthric Speech in French
Cécile Fougeron,Lise Crevier-Buchman,Corinne Fredouille,Alain Ghio,Christine Meunier,Claude Chevrie-Muller,Jean-François Bonastre,Antonia Colazo-Simon,Céline De Looze,Danielle Duez,Cédric Gendrot,Thierry Legou,Nathalie Lévêque,Claire Pillot-Loiseau,Serge Pinto,Gilles Pouchoulin,Danièle Robert,Jacqueline Vaissière,François Viallet,Coralie Vincent +19 more
TL;DR: The DesPho-APaDy project as discussed by the authors aims to provide a systematic and quantified description of French dysarthric speech, over a large population of patients and three dysarthria types (related to the parkinson's disease, the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis disease, and a pure cerebellar alteration).
Articulation silencieuse vs. vocalisée pour une "communication parlée silencieuse" : implications des différences articulatoires
Cédric Gendrot,Lise Crevier-Buchman,Bruce Denby,Thomas Hueber,Antonia Colazo-Simon,Claire Pillot-Loiseau,Pierre Roussel,Sophie Quattrocchi +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors decrivons des tests de reconnaissance de mots produits a la fois en parole silencieuse and en parole vocalisee dans les phases de tests and d'entrainement.
