A new class of models, formalisms and mechanisms has recently evolved for describing concurrent and distributed computations based on the concept of ``coordination''''. The purpose of a coordination model and associated language is to provide a means of integrating a number of possibly heterogeneous components together, by interfacing with each component in such a way that the collective set forms a single application that can execute on and take advantage of parallel and distributed systems. In this chapter we initially define and present in sufficient detail the fundamental concepts of what constitutes a coordination model or language. We then go on to classify these models and languages as either ``data-driven'''' or ``control-driven'''' (also called ``process-'''' or ``task-oriented''''). Next, the main existing coordination models and languages are described in sufficient detail to let the reader appreciate their features and put them into perspective with respect to each other. The chapter ends with a discussion comparing the various models and some conclusions.

Coordination models and languages

A super-peer is a node in a peer-to-peer network that operates both as a server to a set of clients, and as an equal in a network of super-peers. Super-peer networks strike a balance between the efficiency of centralized search, and the autonomy, load balancing and robustness to attacks provided by distributed search. Furthermore, they take advantage of the heterogeneity of capabilities (e.g., bandwidth, processing power) across peers, which recent studies have shown to be enormous. Hence, new and old P2P systems like KaZaA and Gnutella are adopting super-peers in their design. Despite their growing popularity, the behavior of super-peer networks is not well understood. For example, what are the potential drawbacks of super-peer networks? How can super-peers be made more reliable? How many clients should a super-peer take on to maximize efficiency? we examine super-peer networks in detail, gaming an understanding of their fundamental characteristics and performance tradeoffs. We also present practical guidelines and a general procedure for the design of an efficient super-peer network.

Subject directories and search engines are the most commonly used tools to search for information on the World Wide Web. We propose a novel notion of subject meta-directory on top of standard subject directories, which strongly resembles the way in which meta-search engines extend standard search engines. After analyzing the main choices arising in the design of subject meta-directories, we describe the implementation of WebGate, a subject meta-directory entirely written in Prolog.

On behalf of the organizing committee, it’s my great pleasure to bring this beautiful collection of research articles which were presented in the 2022 the 8th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Control and Robotics (EECR 2022) held in fully virtual style during January 13-15, 2022. The papers included in the proceedings seek to highlight the advances in the almost areas of electrical engineering, control and robotics for both industries and academic applications. EECR 2022 brings together a wild range of state-of-the-art research works from electrical engineering, control and robotics disciplines and also seeks to promote the excellence in electrical engineering, control and robotics research related to the recent challenges faced. The conference provides a forum for multidisciplinary discussions with the aim of combining the research ideas in various aspects of electrical engineering, control and robotics technologies. We are glad that experts in the various fields of electrical engineering, control and robotics are presented and discussed their ideas and latest development in the field. The EECR 2022 has received a great response throughout the countries. And the accepted papers were peer-reviewed by reviewers drawn from the committees, external reviewers, and editorial board depending on the subject of the papers. Based on the paper originality, significance and clarity, 44 papers were selected under a rigorous peer-review process. Efforts taken by peer reviewers provided constructive critical comments; improvements and corrections to the authors are gratefully appreciated. We are very grateful to the keynote speakers, invited speakers, advisory committees, session chairs who selflessly contributed to the success of this conference. Also, we are thankful to all the authors who submitted papers, because of which the conference became a story of success. It was the quality of their presentations and their passion to communicate with the other participants that really made this conference series a great success. We wish all attendees of EECR 2022 an enjoyable scientific gathering, even online. We are looking forward to the next International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Control and Robotics. Pattern-Based Resolution of Integration Mismatches in Enterprise Applications

As microservice-based architectures are increasingly adopted, microservices security has become a crucial aspect to consider for IT businesses. Starting from a set of “security smells” for microservice applications that were recently proposed in the literature, we enable the automatic detection of such smells in microservice applications deployed with Kubernetes. We first introduce possible analysis techniques to automatically detect security smells in Kubernetes-deployed microservices. We then demonstrate the practical applicability of the proposed techniques by introducing KubeHound, an extensible prototype tool for automatically detecting security smells in microservice applications, and which already features a selected subset of the discussed analyses. We finally show that KubeHound can effectively detect instances of security smells in microservice applications by means of controlled experiments and by applying it to existing, third-party applications.
