Orange peel waste upstream integrated processing to terpenes, phenolics, pectin and monosaccharides: Optimization approaches
Juan Jose Senit,Daniel Velasco,Antonio Manrique,Manuel Sanchez-Barba,José M. Toledo,Victoria E. Santos,Felix Garcia-Ochoa,P. Yustos,Miguel Ladero +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a first optimization study regarding orange peel waste (OPW) acetone extraction, and acid and enzymatic hydrolysis was developed via Taguchi design of experiments, leading to high yields in essential oils, phenolic compounds, highly-methylated pectin and free sugars and monomers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increase of the Spontaneous Mutation Rate in a Long-Term Experiment With Drosophila melanogaster
Victoria Ávila,David Chavarrías,Enrique Sánchez,Antonio Manrique,Carlos López-Fanjul,Aurora García-Dorado +5 more
TL;DR: The mean viability of C2 remained roughly similar to that of C1, but the rate of MA2 line extinction increased progressively, leading to mutational collapse, which can be ascribed to accelerated mutation and or synergy after important deleterious accumulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The build up of mutation-selection-drift balance in laboratory drosophila populations
Aurora García-Dorado,Victoria Ávila,Enrique Sánchez-Molano,Antonio Manrique,Carlos López-Fanjul +4 more
TL;DR: This study of two Drosophila melanogaster populations initially lacking genetic variability that were subsequently maintained during 431 or 165 generations with effective population size Ne ∼ 500 suggests that both C1 and C2 populations were close to the mutation–selection–drift balance for viability and bristle traits.
