Journal ArticleDOI

Condiciones de contorno en modelos de gradiente con desplazamientos suavizados

TL;DR: In this paper, a new set of condiciones of contorno (condiciones combinadas) are proposed to satisfy the propiedades necesarias for regularización.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of grain-scale effects in bulk handling using discrete element simulations

TL;DR: In this article, the authors simulate the effects of particle size, shape, and hygroscopicity by the discrete element method (DEM) for different bulk handling problems, and compare flow propagation of dry, mono-sized sphere packings to granular systems with particle size dispersity, prolate spheroidal particles, and liquid contents in pendular capillary states.
Journal ArticleDOI

A New Granular Column Collapse Device to Characterise Flowability of Bulk Materials

TL;DR: In this article, a fully instrumented device for flowability assessment by granular column collapse of bulk materials is presented, where the generated granular flow is monitored by load cells that register the flow heights and by a high-speed video camera that captures the bulk flow kinematics through particle image velocimetry analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

The solution of vibroacoustic linear systems as a finite sum of transmission paths

TL;DR: This work shows that it is also possible to expand the solution of a matrix linear system as a finite summation of transmission paths, and exploits the relationship between graph theory and matrix algebra to interpret the terms appearing in the series expansion as combinations of open and closed paths in a graph.

A continuous-discontinuous model for softening and cracking based on non-local gradient elasticity

TL;DR: In this paper, a generic non-local approach to regularise strain-softening continua is presented, where the gradient-type enrichment at the level of displacements is introduced, rather than some internal variable.
