Journal ArticleDOI
Global prevalence and distribution of vancomycin resistant, vancomycin intermediate and heterogeneously vancomycin intermediate Staphylococcus aureus clinical isolates: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Aref Shariati,Masoud Dadashi,Majid Taati Moghadam,Alex van Belkum,Somayeh Yaslianifard,Davood Darban-Sarokhalil +5 more
TL;DR: Since the prevalence of VRSA, VISA and hVISA has been increasing in recent years (especially in the Asian and American continents), rigorous monitoring of vancomycin treatment, it’s the therapeutic response and the definition of appropriate control guidelines depending on geographical regions is highly recommended and essential to prevent the further spread of van comycin-resistant S. aureus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advanced strategies for combating bacterial biofilms.
Javad Yasbolaghi Sharahi,Taher Azimi,Aref Shariati,Hossein Safari,Melika Khanzadeh Tehrani,Ali Hashemi +5 more
TL;DR: In this review, several strategies have been discussed for combating bacterial biofilms to improve healthcare, food safety, and industrial process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bacteriophage therapy against Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms: a review.
Zahra Chegini,Amin Khoshbayan,Majid Taati Moghadam,Iman Farahani,Parham Jazireian,Aref Shariati +5 more
TL;DR: The use of phage therapy for inhibition of P. aeruginosa biofilm in clinical and in vitro studies is discussed to identify different aspects of this treatment for broader use.
Journal ArticleDOI
The global prevalence of Daptomycin, Tigecycline, Quinupristin/Dalfopristin, and Linezolid-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci strains: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Aref Shariati,Masoud Dadashi,Zahra Chegini,Alex van Belkum,Mehdi Mirzaii,Seyed Sajjad Khoramrooz,Davood Darban-Sarokhalil +6 more
TL;DR: Resistance to new agents is low in staphylococci and these antibiotics can still be used for treatment of stAPHylococcal infections in the world, as shown in the present study.
Journal ArticleDOI
How Phages Overcome the Challenges of Drug Resistant Bacteria in Clinical Infections
Majid Taati Moghadam,Nour Amirmozafari,Aref Shariati,Masoumeh Hallajzadeh,Shiva Mirkalantari,Amin Khoshbayan,Faramarz Masjedian Jazi +6 more
TL;DR: This review focuses on an understanding of challenges of MDR, XDR, and PDR bacteria and phages mechanism for treating bacterial infections and the most recent studies on potential phages, cocktails of phage, and enzymes of lytic phages in fighting these resistant bacteria.
