Law and revolution: legitimacy and constitutionalism after the Arab Spring

The current unique business scenario has brought in the increased overlap between work and nonwork boundaries. This situation has prompted psychologists and social scientists to focus on how the work and nonwork boundaries (WNWB) is constructed and sustained. The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between how Boundary strengths at home (BSH) and work (BSW) influence performance among academicians using structural equation modeling (SEM).The sample for the study was selected from among full-time university educators from Jordan. Data was collected from 161 full-time faculty from Jordan using the convenience sampling method. Then, using R, SEM was performed on the collected data to test the tenability of the formulated hypotheses. Results suggest that boundary strength at work and home, and overall work-nonwork boundary had a significant positive relationship with the work performance of faculty. The findings are significant and are an addition to the literature on boundary studies.

The Examination of the Relationship between Work-nonwork Boundary and Work Performance using SEM

What today's law students do as lawyers will be profoundly affected by changes their clients experience. Clients are likely to face more global competition than earlier generations could imagine, and they are likely to value lawyers who understand the non-legal aspects of their problems. Tomorrow's lawyers are likely to have to be more specialized than their predecessors, and many will deliver services that are less personal, more commodity-like, and less financially rewarding. Legal education, in turn, faces challenges producing lawyers capable of functioning in that world. Future lawyers will have to be simultaneously more specialized and more capable of responding to change than were earlier generations. To meet these needs, entering students should be introduced to fundamental issues that cut across all fields, including more public law and international material than most students now encounter. Upperclass students should be given opportunities to specialize and study more non-legal subjects that will make them better able to understand clients' needs. Pressure to control costs, in turn, may lead to an increased use of technology to provide some of the instructional content.

Educating Lawyers for the Future Legal Profession

In today’s working environment, various organizations confront the significant challenges of productivity and performance. However, higher education institutes (HEIs) are also not free from this massive issue. Therefore, the present study investigates employee productivity and performance through work engagement (WEE) and organizational factors. The modes of study are quantitative and based on cross-sectional data. The study collects the response from academic and administrative staff from public and private HEIs of Saudi Arabia. The study applies convenience sampling and successfully proceeds 254 valid cases to conclude the findings. The applied structural equation model (SEM) path analysis demonstrates a positive and significant effect of WEE comprising vigour, dedication, and absorption factors on employee productivity (EPD). In addition, employee performance (EP) is predicted through organizational factors such as management support (MS), learning culture (LC), work environment (WE) and organizational commitment (OC). Finally, the study finds a significant and positive effect of EPD on EP among the employees of HEIs. The study findings would be guidelines for policymakers and the top management of higher education commissions to advance the knowledge and skills of EPD and EP of the organizations. The study would support achieving job tasks and goals through developing WEE and organizational factors for productivity and performance. Lastly, the findings will augment the literature and provide empirical evidence from Middle East countries. The study provides a vigorous model which connects the WEE theory and organizational factors towards EPD and EP in an integrated way.

Legal Education in Egypt

This research mootivates to identify the legal eduaction model in the Arab region and Saudi Arabia in particular. It is found that Arab legal system is derived from the Roman law and French models. The French teaching model is spread in the Kingdom through the professors educated from the French law schools. The french model of legal education follows the lecture approach. The formal legal education in the Kingdom is initiated by Institute of Public Administration (IPA) during 1970s. IPA offered two-years disploma after Sha’ria graduation. Afterwards, King Saud University started the systemetic legal education since 1980s. Law graduatea are required atleast 4-years law degree and 3-years apprenticeship in a law firm as a trainee lawyer.This research also differentiates the legal education system of France, Saudi Arabia and US. We find that that Saudi Arabian system is more similar to French system and lesser similar to the US system.

A Comparative Study on the Legal Education Model in Saudi Arabia

In today’s volatile, uncertain and hyper-competitive business environment, enhancing employees’ task performance is a major concern. Therefore, organizations need to find out the antecedents of task performance. In this context, the present study was undertaken to find the relationship between employees’ knowledge of administrative law, political skills, workplace dignity, constructive deviance and task performance. To our knowledge, no previous study investigated the simultaneous relationships between these variables. Data were collected through questionnaires from 117 faculty members across different universities in Saudi Arabia. Since there was a lack of valid scales to measure knowledge of administrative law, the study developed a questionnaire to assess the same. Drawing support from the personal initiative theory, affective events theory and self-determination theory, the present study found that knowledge about administrative law influences employees’ political skills and workplace dignity, motivating them to exhibit constructive deviance, ultimately improving task performance. This is the first such study to be conducted in Saudi Arabia, as no previous studies have empirically examined this aspect. Hence, it is a new significant contribution to management literature.

Can Knowledge of Administrative Law Impact Constructive Deviance and Task Performance: Empirical Evidence from Saudi Arabia

In this study, we discuss the negative decision concept as the legal characterization approved by the Law for Administration's abstention or refusal to issue a decision, which is obligated to give in accordance with the laws and regulations. The study aims to determine the possibility of challenging its negative position and re-coursing if the Administrative Authority fails to perform its duty or Circumvent Law in a manner that prejudices individuals’ interests. We have clarified that every silence or abstention from Administration is not a negative decision. Rather, it is required that the Authority of Administration should be restricted upon its silence or refrain from doing as per legal requirements. Further, the negative administrative decision is a legal characterization that is not embodied in a material form, and its issuance is not subject to formal and statutory rules established for issuing explicit decisions. Therefore, it does not need to be announced to be effective in facing individuals. It is also characterized by several characteristics that distinguish it from other decisions. For example, a negative decision of the Administration may be appealed by an annulment suit after the grievance to the Administrative Authority and fulfilling the annulment lawsuit conditions. In addition, compensation for a negative decision could be obtained through a compensation claim if the damage results from Administration's failure to perform its legal duty.
