Journal ArticleDOI
Deceleration capacity of heart rate as a predictor of mortality after myocardial infarction: cohort study
Axel Bauer,Jan W. Kantelhardt,Petra Barthel,Raphaël Schneider,Timo H. Mäkikallio,Kurt Ulm,Katerina Hnatkova,Albert Schömig,Heikki V. Huikuri,Armin Bunde,Marek Malik,Georg Schmidt +11 more
TL;DR: Impaired heart rate deceleration capacity is a powerful predictor of mortality after myocardial infarction and is more accurate than LVEF and the conventional measures of heart-rate variability.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decline of acute coronary syndrome admissions in Austria since the outbreak of COVID-19: the pandemic response causes cardiac collateral damage.
TL;DR: A nationwide retrospective survey on the impact of COVID-19 on the diagnosis and treatment of acute cornary syndrome from 2 to 29 March in Austria observed a significant decline in the number of patients admitted to hospital due to ACS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heart rate turbulence: standards of measurement, physiological interpretation, and clinical use: International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrophysiology Consensus.
Axel Bauer,Marek Malik,Georg Schmidt,Petra Barthel,Hendrik Bonnemeier,Iwona Cygankiewicz,Przemysław Guzik,Federico Lombardi,Alexander Müller,Ali Oto,Raphaël Schneider,Mari A. Watanabe,Dan Wichterle,Wojciech Zareba +13 more
TL;DR: The HRT evaluation has been found appropriate in risk stratification after acute myocardial infarction, risk prediction, and monitoring of disease progression in heart failure, as well as in several other pathologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Changes After Renal Sympathetic Denervation in Patients With Resistant Hypertension
Felix Mahfoud,Christian Ukena,Roland E. Schmieder,Bodo Cremers,Lars Christian Rump,Oliver Vonend,Joachim Weil,Martin Schmidt,Uta C. Hoppe,Thomas Zeller,Axel Bauer,Christian Ott,Erwin Blessing,Paul A. Sobotka,Henry Krum,Markus P. Schlaich,Murray D. Esler,Michael Böhm +17 more
TL;DR: RDN reduced office BP and improved relevant aspects of ambulatory BP monitoring, commonly linked to high cardiovascular risk, in patients with true-treatment resistant hypertension, whereas it only affected office BP in pseudoresistant hypertension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk Stratification After Acute Myocardial Infarction by Heart Rate Turbulence
Petra Barthel,Raphaël Schneider,Axel Bauer,Kurt Ulm,Claus Schmitt,Albert Schömig,Georg Schmidt +6 more
TL;DR: HRT is a strong predictor of subsequent death in postinfarction patients of the reperfusion era, and the combined criteria of LVEF ≤30% or LVEf >30%, age ≥65 years, diabetes mellitus, and HRT category 1 or 2 had a sensitivity of 44% at a positive predictive accuracy level of 23%.
