Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of wind-driven rain impact, related surface erosion and surface strength reduction of historic building materials

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of different size water drops, with different impact speeds on a range of masonry materials with different surface asperities and varying moisture absorption features, at various impact angles were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Manufacturing, assembly, and testing of scaled, historic masonry for one-gravity, pseudo-static, soil-structure experiments

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe scaling, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of 1/10th scaled historic masonry materials for one-gravity, pseudo-static, soil-structure testing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of the Rail-Induced Vibrations on a Masonry Historical Building

TL;DR: In this article, the Little Hagia Sophia Mosque, located adjacent to Istanbul's Sirkeci-Halkali railway line, was investigated for the effects of railway vibrations on masonry buildings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transmission of Traffic-induced Vibrations on and around the Minaret of Little Hagia Sophia

TL;DR: In this paper, the minaret of Little Hagia Sophia was analyzed due to its historic prominence and close proximity to heavy rail traffic and the results showed that stresses reached 32% of material strength and, critically, measured peak particle velocities of vibrations at times approached previously established damage thresholds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Value and vulnerability assessment of a historic tomb for conservation.

TL;DR: This paper analyses the overall value of the Nişancı Hamza Paşa tomb with respect to its historical, communal, evidential, and aesthetic aspects and examines the damage observed in the structure.
