Antioxidant activity of Smilax excelsa L. leaf extracts
TL;DR: In this paper, different antioxidant tests were employed in order to evaluate the antioxidant activities of water, infusion, ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts of S. excelsa leaves, and the results were compared with natural and synthetic antioxidants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Aloe vera leaves on blood glucose level in type I and type II diabetic rat models.
TL;DR: The pulps of Aloe vera leaves devoid of the gel could be useful in the treatment of non‐insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Aloe vera Leaf Gel and Pulp Extracts on the Liver in Type-II Diabetic Rat Models
Ayse Can,Nuriye Akev,Nurten Ozsoy,Sehnaz Bolkent,Bahriye Pelin Arda,Refiye Yanardag,Alper Okyar +6 more
TL;DR: Aloe gel extract has a protective effect comparable to glibenclamide against hepatotoxicity produced by diabetes if used in the treatment of type-II diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vitro antioxidant activity of Amaranthus lividus L
TL;DR: In this article, water, methanol and ethyl acetate extracts from stems with leaves and flowers of Amaranthus lividus L, one of the most popular leafy vegetable consumed in the west Black Sea region of Turkey, were tested in vitro for their ability to inhibit peroxidation of phosphatidylcholine liposomes induced with Fe 3+ /ascorbate, to scavenge ABTS +, DPPH and hydroxyl radicals, to reduce Fe (III) to Fe (II) and to chelate Fe(II) ions
Journal Article
Effect of Aloe vera (L.) Burm. fil. leaf gel and pulp extracts on kidney in type-II diabetic rat models.
Sehnaz Bolkent,Nuriye Akev,Nurten Ozsoy,Meliha Sengezer-Inceli,Ayse Can,Alper Okyar,Refiye Yanardag +6 more
TL;DR: Only A. vera leaf gel extract showed improvement both in histological and biochemical parameters suggesting a protective effect of A. Vera on mild damage caused by type-II diabetes on kidney tissue.
