Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of chronic urticaria on the quality of life
TL;DR: The patients with DPU had significantly more problems with mobility, gardening and choice of clothing than the uncomplicated CU patients, and suffered more pain, had more issues with work and were more restricted in their hobbies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intravenous immunoglobulin in autoimmune chronic urticaria
B.F. O'Donnell,R. M. Barr,Anne Kobza Black,D M Francis,F Kermani,N Niimi,R.J. Barlow,Richard K. Winkelmann,Malcolm W. Greaves +8 more
TL;DR: IVIG represents a novel therapeutic option in selected patients with recalcitrant CU associated with histamine releasing autoantibodies and diminution in urticarial activity in the majority of patients corresponded with a reduced weal‐and‐flare response to the intradermal injection of autologous post‐treatment serum compared with the pretreatment serum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human leucocyte antigen class II associations in chronic idiopathic urticaria.
B.F. O'Donnell,C M O'Neill,D M Francis,N Niimi,R. M. Barr,R.J. Barlow,A. Kobza Black,Kenneth I. Welsh,Malcolm W. Greaves +8 more
TL;DR: Human leucocyte antigen (HLA) typing on patient subsets is consistent with the concept that CIU is a heterogeneous disease, and supports an autoimmune pathogenesis in a subset of patients.
