Journal ArticleDOI

Low-temperature structures of CuO and AgO and their relationships to those of MgO and PdO

TL;DR: In this article, the authors refined the CuO structure from time-of-flight neutron diffraction data collected at 11 K and showed that the distance of the Cu-O distances are 1.951(1) and 1.961 (1) A (each 2 ×) with corresponding OCu-O angles of 84.315(7)° and 95.68°, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-range antiferromagnetic ordering in Bi2CuO4.

TL;DR: Simultaneous refinement of the room-temperature x-ray and neutron-diffraction data was used to obtain accurate cell parameters and atomic positions, and ESR signals can be associated with antiferromagnetic resonance modes, consistent with an ordered antiferromeagnetic phase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electronic Factors Influencing the Local and Cooperative Jahn-Teller Interactions in Spinels with Copper(II) and Nickel(II)

TL;DR: In this paper, a microscopic bonding model is proposed which is based on the bonding properties of the oxygen ligands with respect to Cu 2+ due to the presence of the "contrapolarizing" Cr 3+ cations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Manifestation of the Cooperative Jahn-Teller Effect in the Raman Spectra of Bu2CuxZn1−xWO6Mixed Crystals

TL;DR: Raman spectra of Ba 2 Cu x Zn 1− x WO 6 mixed crystals ( x = 0.0 to 0.4 and x = 1) are reported and shown to display considerable enhancement of Raman intensity for the WO6 vibration with E g ( O h ) symmetry when increasing the concentration of Cu 2+.
