Field-ion microscope investigations of fine structures in as-quenched and tempered ferrous martensite

TL;DR: The fine structures in as-quenched and tempered martensite in an Fe 0.8% C-0.4% Mn steel was investigated with hydrogen-ion microscopy as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Field-ion microscopy of tempered martensite

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison between microstructure and measured microhardness has been made, and the results support the theory that the microstructural features of tempered martensite are coherent and some are associated with dislocations.

Field-ion microscopy of ferrous martensite

TL;DR: In this article, the fine structures of as-quenched martensite in an Fe 0.8% C-0.4% Mn steel were investigated using field-ion microscopy techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogen-ion image features of tempered martensite

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of carbon content and lattice strain on specimen geometry, field evaporation, hydrogen etching and field ionization are discussed, and it is suggested that carbon atoms in random solid solution lead to an irregular evapuration, similar to that previously proposed for other solid solution alloys.
