This article surveys the debate about the unity of Luke—Acts in recent scholarship. The study concentrates on monographs and articles written after Mikael C. Parsons and Richard I. Pervo's volume Rethinking the Unity of Luke and Acts, and identifies the recent contribution that reception-history studies have brought to the debate. This is followed with a brief analysis of the flashpoints in the debate, and a discussion of what is at stake for Lukan studies.

Nach der bis heute unuberholten Einleitung von Harris/Mingana sind die Einleitungsfragen zu den Oden Salomos nicht mehr umfassend zur Darstellung gebracht worden. Da die Erforschung dieser ratselhaften Texte seit ihrer Entdeckung vor gut 200 Jahren zu einer eigenen kleinen Bibliothek gefuhrt hat, mochte ich die knappe Behandlung der Einleitungsprobleme mit einem ebenso knappen Ruckblick auf die Forschungsgeschichte verbinden und damit meine langjahrigen Forschungen zusammenfassen. Einige Uberschneidungen lassen sich dabei nicht vermeiden.

Die Oden Salomos. Einleitungsfragen und Forschungsgeschichte

This article proposes that the variant Βαλαάκ in the 72 text of Jude 11 be read in light of theological tendency in the Bodmer codex, especially as evidenced in the christological variants of 72. Initially, scholarly opinion dismissed the ‘Balaak’ reading as nothing more than an inexperienced copyist's careless mistake. Though recognizing the older view to be unsatisfactory, recent explanations are also inadequate. Given neutral or positive traditions about Balaam in Judaism, and in the context of the early Christian belief that the Spirit of Christ inspired the OT Prophets (including Balaam), the article makes a case for reevaluation of the variant.

ΒΑΛΑΑΚ in the 72 Text of Jude 11: A Proposal*

Current methodological discussion within the field of New Testament studies focuses today on the influence of the work and its history, and is often motivated by newer findings in linguistics and literary criticism. Such inquiry is broadened through its correlation to reception theory, i.e. that inquiry that focuses on how readers understood the work during the course of its transmission or reception. By contrast to the above, textual criticism is that science that tries to discover the ‘original text’ as exactly as possible. Here I would like to ask, to what extent do the ‘witnesses’ (e.g. manuscripts, versions, quotations, etc.) of textual criticism also function as interpreters and ‘receivers’ of the text. In all three of the topics handled here we have been aware of an interaction between text and reader.
