Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of cell-free circulating DNA in plasma in patients with prostate cancer.
Pâmela Oliveira Delgado,Beatriz da Costa Aguiar Alves,Flávia de Sousa Gehrke,Renata Kelly Kuniyoshi,Marcelo Langer Wroclavski,Auro Del Giglio,Fernando Luiz Affonso Fonseca +6 more
TL;DR: Cell-free circulating DNA levels were measured by a quantitative real-time PCR method with a set of primers targeted to amplify the consensus ALU apoptotic versus necrotic origin and all patients after 6 months demonstrated DNA released at non-apoptotic cell.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of primers derived from a new sequence of the bovine Y chromosome for sexing Bos taurus and Bos indicus embryos.
Beatriz da Costa Aguiar Alves,V. F. M. Hossepian de Lima,C.M. Teixeira,Carlos Alberto Moreira-Filho +3 more
TL;DR: A bovine male-specific marker was identified in the laboratory through random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis and primers derived from this sequence used for detecting the 655 bp male sequence in DNA from 173 zebu and 30 taurine embryos, which had been previously sexed using primers for the sequence BC 1.2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sexing of murine and bovine embryos by developmental arrest induced by high-titer H-Y antisera.
Mariney Flávia Pereira Di-Tanno Ramalho,Joaquim Mansano Garcia,Cesar Roberto Esper,Roberta Vantini,Beatriz da Costa Aguiar Alves,I.L. Almeida Junior,V. F. M. Hossepian de Lima,Carlos Alberto Moreira-Filho +7 more
TL;DR: The induction of developmental arrest by high-titer male-specific antisera was an efficient strategy for non-invasive embryo sexing and has considerable commercial potential for sexing bovine embryos.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of Survivin as a biomarker and potential prognostic factor for breast cancer
Glaucia Luciano da Veiga,Raissa Daniel Machado da Silva,Edimar Cristiano Pereira,Ligia Ajaime Azzalis,Beatriz da Costa Aguiar Alves,Flávia de Sousa Gehrke,Thaís Moura Gascón,Fernando Luiz Affonso Fonseca +7 more
TL;DR: The importance of the biomarker survivin (Sur) in relation to BC is evaluated, through the detailing of the role of Sur as a biomarker, the correlation between this protein and the prognosis of BC patients, and a summary of therapeutic strategies that target Sur for the development of new anticancer therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systemic chemotherapy interferes in homocysteine metabolism in breast cancer patients.
Eliana K. Yamashita,Bianca Marinelli Teixeira,Renata Nunes Yoshihara,Renata Kelly Kuniyoshi,Beatriz da Costa Aguiar Alves,Flávia de Sousa Gehrke,Viviane A. Vilas-Bôas,João A. Correia,Ligia Ajaime Azzalis,Virginia Junqueira,Edimar Cristiano Pereira,Fernando Luiz Affonso Fonseca +11 more
TL;DR: This study aimed to evaluate homocysteine and its cofators (folic acid and vitamin B12) concentrations and platelet count at diagnosis of BC, 3 and 6 months after the beginning of chemotherapy treatment and to correlate them with clinical data.
