Characterizing Congo Basin Rainfall and Climate Using Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) Satellite Data and Limited Rain Gauge Ground Observations

TL;DR: In this paper, the use of limited rainfall gauge data within the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to recalibrate a TRMM science product (TRMM 3B42, version 6) in characterizing precipitation and climate in the Congo basin is reported.

International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation: Time-Series Analysis of Multi-Resolution Optical Imagery for Quantifying Forest Cover Loss in Sumatra and Kalimantan, Indonesia

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed all Landsat 7 imagery with <50% cloud cover and data and products from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) to quantify forest cover loss for Sumatra and Kalimantan from 2000 to 2005.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating Landsat and RapidEye Data for Winter Wheat Mapping and Area Estimation in Punjab, Pakistan

TL;DR: Commercial 5 m spatial resolution RapidEye and free 30 m Landsat imagery are integrated in characterizing winter wheat in Punjab province, Pakistan to give sufficient expertise in supervised classification model calibration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using Multi-Resolution Satellite Data to Quantify Land Dynamics: Applications of PlanetScope Imagery for Cropland and Tree-Cover Loss Area Estimation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a time series of PlanetScope imagery to classify a sample of 5 × 5 km blocks for each region and produce area estimates of 55,947 km2 (± 9.0%) of wheat in Punjab and 5398 km2 of tree-cover loss in Peru.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Wheat production forecasting for Pakistan from satellite data

TL;DR: A satellite-based methodology for early season wheat production forecasting is described, derived from a MODIS satellite image time series, that allows to better plan for wheat transactions on the world market, maintain adequate stocks, inform policy making, set support prices and increase market efficiency.
