TL;DR: An epidemiologic survey began on March 1, 1984, and ended on February 28, 1985, during which all neurologists and electroencephalographers of the department of Gironde, an administrative district of the French Southwest, obtained information by questionnaire from all persons who had experienced an epileptic seizure for the first time in their lives.
