TL;DR: It is found that the modest overexpression of alpha-synuclein, in the range predicted for gene multiplication and in the absence of overt toxicity, markedly inhibits neurotransmitter release.
Journal ArticleDOI
Localized topological changes of the plasma membrane upon exocytosis visualized by polarized TIRFM
TL;DR: Imaging of individual secretory granules reveals how exocytosis curves the membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vesicular Monoamine and Glutamate Transporters Select Distinct Synaptic Vesicle Recycling Pathways
TL;DR: Two vesicular transporters are used to compare the localization and recycling of synaptic vesicles that store, respectively, monoamines and glutamate in dopamine and serotonin neurons and find that in both midbrain dopamine and hippocampal neurons, a substantially smaller proportion of VMAT2 than VGLUT1 is available for evoked release.
