Semiconductor gamma-ray camera and medical imaging system
Clinton L. Lingren,Friesenhahn Stanley J,Jack F. Butler,F. Patrick Doty,William L. Ashburn,Augustine Frank L,Boris Apotovsky +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a high-energy photon imaging system including an imaging head, a signal processor, a data acquisition system and an image processing computer is described, where the signal processor performs diagnostics, gain normalization, and response efficiency normalization functions.

Semiconductor radiation detector with enhanced charge collection
Boris Apotovsky,Clinton L. Lingren,Ashot Oganesyan,Bo Pi,Jack F. Butler,F. Patrick Doty,Richard L. Conwell,Stanley J. Friesenhahn +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a bias electrode is formed on one side of the semiconductor and is used to detect the energy level of the ionizing radiation, and a third electrode (the control electrode) is also formed on the semiconducted semiconductor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gamma- and X-ray detectors manufactured from Cd1−xZnx Te grown by a high pressure bridgman method
TL;DR: In this paper, results of recent efforts in the growth of Cd1−xZnxTe crystals by a high pressure Bridgman (HPB) method and their use in gamma and X-ray detector applications are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pixellated CdZnTe detector arrays
F.P. Doty,H.B. Barber,F.L. Augustine,Jack F. Butler,Boris Apotovsky,E.T. Young,W. J. Hamilton +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the first high spatial resolution room-temperature semiconductor gamma detector arrays with 125 μm element pitch have been reported, including pulse height spectra using charge-sensitive preamplifier readout from witness test pixels.
Journal ArticleDOI
CdZnTe solid-state gamma camera
Jack F. Butler,C.L. Lingren,S.J. Friesenhahn,F.P. Doty,W.L. Ashburn,R.L. Conwell,F.L. Augustine,Boris Apotovsky,B. Pi,Tim Collins,S. Zhao,C. Isaacson +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the development of a CdZnTe gamma ray imager whose advantages over the conventional Anger camera include: 1) improved contrast and spatial resolution resulting from superior energy resolution and unambiguous position determination and 2) the small size and weight and high reliability inherent in an all-solid state construction.
