Comparison of Transfemoral Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Performed in the Catheterization Laboratory (Minimalist Approach) Versus Hybrid Operating Room (Standard Approach): Outcomes and Cost Analysis
Vasilis Babaliaros,Chandan Devireddy,Stamatios Lerakis,Robert Leonardi,Sebastian Iturra,Kreton Mavromatis,Bradley G. Leshnower,Robert A. Guyton,Mihir Kanitkar,Patricia Keegan,Amy Simone,James Stewart,Nima Ghasemzadeh,Peter C. Block,Vinod H. Thourani +14 more
TL;DR: MA-TF TAVR can be performed with minimal morbidity and mortality and equivalent effectiveness compared with SA-TFTAVR, and the shorter length of stay and lower resource use with MA-TPVR significantly lowers hospital costs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) reporting standards for type B aortic dissections
Joseph V. Lombardi,G. Chad Hughes,Jehangir J. Appoo,Joseph E. Bavaria,Adam W. Beck,Richard P. Cambria,Kristofer M. Charlton-Ouw,Mohammad H. Eslami,Karen M. Kim,Bradley G. Leshnower,Thomas S. Maldonado,T. Brett Reece,Grace J. Wang +12 more
TL;DR: This Society for Vascular Surgery/Society of Thoracic Surgeons (SVS/STS) document illustrates and defines the overall nomenclature associated with type B aortic dissection and describes a new classification system for practical use and reporting that includes the aorti arch.
Journal ArticleDOI
The BASILICA Trial: Prospective Multicenter Investigation of Intentional Leaflet Laceration to Prevent TAVR Coronary Obstruction.
Jaffar M. Khan,Adam Greenbaum,Vasilis C. Babaliaros,Toby Rogers,Marvin H. Eng,Gaetano Paone,Bradley G. Leshnower,Mark Reisman,Lowell F. Satler,Ron Waksman,Marcus Y. Chen,Annette M. Stine,Xin Tian,Danny Dvir,Robert J. Lederman +14 more
TL;DR: BASILICA appears effective in preventing coronary artery obstruction from TAVR in subjects at high risk, and was feasible in both native and bioprosthetic valves.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anterior Leaflet Laceration to Prevent Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction During Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement
Jaffar M. Khan,Vasilis C. Babaliaros,Adam Greenbaum,Jason Foerst,Shahram Yazdani,James M. McCabe,Gaetano Paone,Marvin H. Eng,Bradley G. Leshnower,Patrick Gleason,Marcus Y. Chen,Dee Dee Wang,Xin Tian,Annette M. Stine,Toby Rogers,Robert J. Lederman +15 more
TL;DR: LAMPOON was effective in preventing LVOT obstruction from TMVR and was feasible in native and annuloplasty ring anatomies in patients who were otherwise ineligible for treatment, with acceptable safety.
Journal ArticleDOI
Moderate hypothermia and unilateral selective antegrade cerebral perfusion: a contemporary cerebral protection strategy for aortic arch surgery.
Bradley G. Leshnower,Richard J. Myung,Patrick D. Kilgo,Thomas A. Vassiliades,J. David Vega,Vinod H. Thourani,John D. Puskas,Robert A. Guyton,Edward P. Chen +8 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that MHCA combined with uSACP represents an effective cerebral protective strategy in patients undergoing arch reconstruction in both the elective and emergent settings, and the MHCA with adjunctive u SACP is not an independent risk factor for adverse outcomes after aortic arch surgery.
