TL;DR: This is the first documented record of P. lateolabracis from fishes of the Mediterranean region and its finding in S. dumerili represents a new host record, and the possible importance of this pathogenic parasite for cultures of marine perciform fishes in the region is stressed.
Abstract: Gravid females of the nematode Philometra lateolabracis (Yamaguti, 1935), a parasite of gonads of marine perciform fishes, were found in wild and cultured dusky grouper Epinephelus marginatus (Lowe) from waters near the Balear Islands (Spain, Mediterranean Sea) and Sicily (Italy, Thyrrenean Sea), and in the greater amberjack Seriola dumerili (Risso) in Croatia (south-eastern Adriatic Sea). In wild E. marginatus in Spain, the overall prevalence was 21% and the intensity of infection 1 nematode per fish. The nema- todes are briefly described and illustrated. The species San- guinofilaria jordanoi Lopez-Neyra, 1951, described from the ovary of Epinephelus gigas Brunich from Morocco, is syn- onymized with P. lateolabracis. This is the first documented record of P. lateolabracis from fishes of the Mediterranean region and its finding in S. dumerili represents a new host record. The possible importance of this pathogenic parasite for cultures of marine perciform fishes in the region is stressed.

TL;DR: Growth, food intake, feed conversion, survival and behaviour of wild-caught goldblotch grouper, Epinephelus costae, were evaluated when reared in captivity.
Abstract: Growth, food intake, feed conversion, survival and behaviour of wild-caught goldblotch grouper, Epinephelus costae, (initial weight=103.04 ą ; 8.27g) were evaluated when reared in captivity. Average weight gains ranged between 0.106 and 0.278 g day-1, while corresponding gains in length ranged between 0.005 and 0.018 cm day-1. Average daily growth rate was between 0.075 and 0.232% body weight day-1 (overall 0.141 ą ; 0.08 bw/day). Daily rate of feeding was estimated to be between 0.299 and 0.418% bw day-1 (overall 0.365 ą ; 0.09% bw day-1). Food conversion ratio (FCR) ranged between 0.21 and 0.77 (overall FCR=0.423). Food intake was dependent on water temperature.

TL;DR: Six juvenile Atlantic lizardfish, Synodus saurus (Linnaeus, 1758 ; Pisces ; Synodontidae), a rare species in the Adriatic sea, were caught in three shallow bays and their morphological and meristic features are reported on, circumstantial evidence of the expansion of this species into this part of the AdRIatic.
Abstract: Six juvenile Atlantic lizardfish, Synodus saurus (Linnaeus, 1758 ; Pisces ; Synodontidae), a rare species in the Adriatic sea, were caught in three shallow bays (Gornji Molunat Bay, Gornje Celo Bay and Lopud Bay) in the southeastern Croatian Adriatic. These specimens are the first record of juveniles of this species in the shallow waters of the southeastern Adriatic. This paper reports on their morphological and meristic features. This occurrence of juveniles is circumstantial evidence of the expansion of this species into this part of the Adriatic.
