Marine and Coastal Cultural Ecosystem Services: knowledge gaps and research priorities
João Garcia Rodrigues,Alexis Conides,Susana Rodríguez,Saša Raicevich,Pablo Pita,Kristin M. Kleisner,Cristina Pita,Priscila F. M. Lopes,Virginia Alonso Roldán,Sandra Ramos,Sandra Ramos,Dimitris Klaoudatos,Luís Outeiro,Luís Outeiro,Claire W. Armstrong,Lida Teneva,Stephanie Stefanski,Anne Böhnke-Henrichs,Marion Kruse,Ana I. Lillebø,Elena M. Bennett,Andrea Belgrano,Arantza Murillas,Isabel Sousa Pinto,Benjamin Burkhard,Sebastián Villasante +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors did a systematic review of the scientific literature and synthesized a subset of 72 peer-reviewed publications to identify knowledge gaps and to pinpoint research priorities and the way forward.
Journal ArticleDOI
Food conversion budget in sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax, fingerlings under two different feeding frequency patterns
TL;DR: Within this feeding pattern, the maximum growth rate is obtained, while a valuable energy budget occurs, and the percentage of consumed food used for basic metabolism and growth increased with feeding frequency for both P1 and P2 and stabilized in high rations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age, growth, mortality and sex ratio of sand smelt, Atherina boyeri Risso, 1810 (Pisces: Atherinidae) in the estuary of the Mala Neretva River (middle-eastern Adriatic, Croatia)
Vlasta Bartulović,Branko Glamuzina,Alexis Conides,Jakov Dulčić,Davor Lučić,Jakica Njire,Valter Kožul +6 more
TL;DR: The present study investigated the age, growth, mortality and morphometry of the sand smelt, Atherina boyeri, in the Mala Neretva River estuary (mid-eastern Adriatic Sea) and showed that the population is up to 4 years of age.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trust in the fisheries scientific community
Helen Glenn,Diana Tingley,Sonia Sánchez Maroño,Dennis Holm,Laurence T. Kell,Gurpreet Padda,Ingi Runar Edvardsson,Johann Asmundsson,Alexis Conides,Kostas Kapiris,Mintewab Bezabih,Premachandra Wattage,Sakari Kuikka +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the issue of "trust" in the fisheries science community, a key corollary of effective risk communication, and present the findings of a survey undertaken in Iceland, Greece, Spain, United Kingdom and Faroe Islands during 2008.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth, food conversion, maintenance and long‐term survival of gilthead sea bream, Sparus auratus L., juveniles after abrupt transfer to low salinity
Spyros Klaoudatos,Alexis Conides +1 more
TL;DR: The results showed that better daily growth rates and food conversion efficiencies (FCE) when growing at 28%o gave the best performance, and scope for growth, expressed as the minimum difference between food amount eaten and food attributed to growth, is better when the fish are kept at a salinity of 28%O.
