Hyperglycemia and Adverse Pregnancy Outcome (HAPO) Study: Associations with Neonatal Anthropometrics
Boyd E. Metzger,Lynn P. Lowe,Alan R. Dyer,Elisabeth R. Trimble,Brian Sheridan,Moshe Hod,Rony Chen,Yariv Yogev,Donald R. Coustan,Patrick M. Catalano,Warwick B. Giles,Julia Lowe,David R. Hadden,Bengt Persson,Jeremy Oats +14 more
TL;DR: Findings confirm the link between maternal glucose and neonatal adiposity and suggest that the relationship is mediated by fetal insulin production and that the Pedersen hypothesis describes a basic biological relationship influencing fetal growth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth hormone treatment of adults with growth hormone deficiency: results of a 13-month placebo controlled cross-over study.
H. M. Whitehead,Colin Boreham,Edwin M. Mcllrath,Brian Sheridan,Laurence Kennedy,A. Brew Atkinson,David R. Madden +6 more
TL;DR: The study aimed to study the effect of biosynthetlc growth hormone replacement in growth hormone deficient adults and found it to be a positive replacement for GH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long‐term remission rates after pituitary surgery for Cushing's disease: the need for long‐term surveillance
TL;DR: The objective was to assess the relapse rates in patients who underwent transsphenoidal surgery in order to determine whether undetectable cortisol following surgery was predictive of long‐term remission and whether it was possible to have long-term remission when early morning cortisol was measurable but not grossly elevated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laboratory and clinical experience in 55 patients with macroprolactinemia identified by a simple polyethylene glycol precipitation method
H. Leslie,C. H. Courtney,Patrick M. Bell,David R. Hadden,David R. McCance,P. K. Ellis,Brian Sheridan,A. B. Atkinson +7 more
TL;DR: As the clinical consequences of this entity at this stage seem relatively benign, referral and intensive investigation of these patients may not be necessary and follow-up of a large cohort is required to ensure that the long-term outlook is likewise benign.
Journal ArticleDOI
Five cases of cyclical Cushing's syndrome.
A. B. Atkinson,Allan Laurence Kennedy,D. J. Carson,David R. Hadden,J. A. Weaver,Brian Sheridan +5 more
TL;DR: In only one patient with a cyclical pattern did the cortisol:creatinine ratio fall after treatment with bromocriptine or cyproheptadine, or both, and the results of drug studies in Cushing's syndrome must be interpreted cautiously.
