Consequences of neural asynchrony: a case of auditory neuropathy.

TL;DR: Electrophysiological and behavioral data from a rare case of auditory neuropathy in a woman with normal hearing thresholds are presented, making it possible to separate audibility from neuropathy, and it is illustrated that optimal eighth nerve and auditory brainstem synchrony do not appear to be essential for understanding speech in quiet listening situations.

Parametric information about eye movements is sent to the ears

TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the information contained in eye movement-related eardrum oscillations (EMREOs), pressure changes recorded in the ear canal that occur in conjunction with simultaneous eye movements, and they showed that EMREOs contain parametric information about horizontal and vertical eye displacement as well as initial/final eye position with respect to the head.
Posted ContentDOI

Individual similarities and differences in eye-movement-related eardrum oscillations (EMREOs)

TL;DR: In this article , a unique type of low-frequency otoacoustic emission (OAE) time-locked to the onset (and offset) of saccadic eye movements was recently discovered in our laboratory.
Posted ContentDOI

Conserved features of eye movement related eardrum oscillations (EMREOs) across humans and monkeys

TL;DR: In this paper , eye movement-related eardrum oscillations (EMREOs) were found to carry parametric information about eye displacement as well as onset times of eye movements.
