Hydrothermal recharge and discharge across 50 km guided by seamounts on a young ridge flank.

TL;DR: Results of swath mapping, heat flow, geochemistry and seismic surveys from the young eastern flank of the Juan de Fuca ridge show that isolated basement outcrops penetrating through thick sediments guide hydrothermal discharge and recharge between sites separated by more than 50 km.
Book ChapterDOI

Scientific and technical design and deployment of long-term subseafloor observatories for hydrogeologic and related experiments, IODP Expedition 301, eastern flank of Juan de Fuca Ridge

TL;DR: Fisher et al. as mentioned in this paper deployed two borehole observatories (CORKs) in the oceanic crust to conduct active, multidisciplinary experiments over timescales of minutes to years and length scales of meters to kilometers.

Fluid Sampling from Oceanic Borehole Observatories: Design and Methods for CORK Activities (1990-2010)

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a method to improve the quality of the data collected by the data collection system....,.. this article.. The method is described in Section 5.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing Marine Microbial Induced Corrosion at Santa Catalina Island, California.

TL;DR: Results indicate that (i) high-flux incubations with higher oxygen availability favor the development of biofilms with twisted stalks resembling those of marine neutrophilic FeOB and (ii) long-term nutrient stimulation results in substrate corrosion and bioFilms with different bacterial community composition and structure relative to stagnant and non-nutritionally enhanced incubations.
