Theory and application of digital signal processing

TL;DR: Feyman and Wing as discussed by the authors introduced the simplicity of the invariant imbedding method to tackle various problems of interest to engineers, physicists, applied mathematicians, and numerical analysts.

Comments on modern methods for spectrum estimation

TL;DR: It is argued that several computation procedures commonly used in spectrum estimation are contrary to the basic idioms of statistical analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the smoothed periodogram method for spectrum estimation

TL;DR: Computed results show that the use of tapering windows is harmful in that it increases the variance of the computed spectrum for little return in the form of leakage suppression, while interval doubling by concatenation of zeroes reduces variance as well as effectfuly supresses leakage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comments on "Spectral estimation using combined time and lag weighting"

TL;DR: In this paper, the relation between Nuttall and Carter's lag reshaping method for spectral estimation without tapering and overlapping, and earlier methods with similar aims has been discussed, and a comparison of the two methods can be found.
