With the extension of complex ray theory (CRT) from lossless media into lossy ones, the complex ray analysis in lossy media can be constructed and effectively used in the problems of scattering analysis of objects coated with radar absorbing materials (RAM). This method has some advantages, such as simple calculation procedure, clear physical meaning, wide application area etc. As an example, the radar cross-section (RCS) of conducting flat plates coated with RAM is analyzed. The results show that the theoretical predictions agree very well with the experimental results.

Complex ray analysis of scattering from ram coated targets

The electromagnetic (EM) scattering by rivets on the conducting plate is studied for the first time by using electric field integral equation (EFIE) in conjunction with the moment method. The surfaces of the rivets and the plate are partitioned into triangular cells, the current distribution on the patches is represented by sub-domain type basis function, the EFIE is translated into matrix equation by the Galerkin method, then the current coefficient is obtained. The results show the properties of radar cross section (RCS) varying with the incident angle when there are rivets on the plate.

Study on the EM scattering of rivets on the plate

An algorithm, based on Monte Carlo techniques, is presented for the design and analysis of a crystal controlled oscillator. A digital computer simulates the oscillator as its circuit components change in accordance with their probability distributions. Selection of the final oscillator design is based on the probability of circuit failure as calculated by the computer. This method should yield improved frequency stability and reduced cost compared with results obtained from conventional design methods.
