Journal ArticleDOI

The 11 T Dipole for HL-LHC: Status and Plan

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the overall progress of the project, the final design of the cryomagnet, and the performance of the most recent models, including the overall plan toward the fabrication of the series magnets for the two phases of the upgrade of the LHC collimation system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Progress on the Development of the Nb3Sn 11T Dipole for the High Luminosity Upgrade of LHC

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the current status of the development activities, in particular the short model programme and the construction of the first full scale prototype at CERN, and then the plan toward the production for the long shut down 2 is described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Applied Metrology in the Production of Superconducting Model Magnets for Particle Accelerators

TL;DR: The experience from systematic geometrical measurements performed during the ongoing production of model magnets for the high luminosity–Large Hadron Collider upgrade is presented, identifying the principal factors causing systematic and unexpected dimensional deviations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetic Measurements and Analysis of the First 11-T Nb 3 Sn Dipole Models Developed at CERN for HL-LHC

TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic measurements on the first 2m-long single-aperture demonstrators built and tested at CERN were compared with the magnetic calculations using the CERN field computation program ROXIE and discussed in view of the requirements for machine operation.
