Niche Modeling and Geographic Range Predictions in the Marine Environment Using a Machine-learning Algorithm
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a model of the Central Western Atlantic, roughly bounded by the definitions of the Food and Agricultural Organizations definition of Fishing Area 31, approximately the area of the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico between 35°N and 5°N Latitude and west of 40°W Longitude.

Niche Modeling Perspective on Geographic Range Predictions in the Marine Environment Using a Machine-learning Algorithm
Journal ArticleDOI
Using ecological-niche modeling to predict Barred Owl invasions with implications for Spotted Owl conservation
TL;DR: This paper evaluated the dimensions of this potential invasion by using ecological niche models based on point-occurrence data and developed models with significant predictions for the native distributions of both Spotted and Barred owls (tested via independent occurrence data) and for the invasive range of Barred Owls.
Journal ArticleDOI
Harnessing Museum Resources for the Census of Marine Life: The FISHNET Project
TL;DR: The FishNet project as mentioned in this paper is a distributed information system that provides data towards answering two fundamental questions regarding marine biodiversity: how many vouchered records exist for each species of fishes, and what are their distributions in time and space.
