High-Accuracy Approach for Thermomechanical Vibration Analysis of FG-Gplrc Fluid-Conveying Viscoelastic Thick Cylindrical Shell

Central concern of this article is presenting the high-exactitude analysis on hygro-thermo-mechanical vibration of three-phase multi-scale hybrid composite angle-ply laminated rectangular plate (MHCALRP) for different couples of boundary conditions within the context of twelve-variable refined higher order shear deformation theory (RHOSDT12). Defining the kinematics of the system according to RHOSDT12 is the essential step toward achieving sufficient accuracy in elucidation of vibrational behavior of moderately thick plates. Mechanical properties of MHCALRP are calculated through two-step Halpin–Tsai homogenization process. Numerical solution to the governing differential motion equations is acquired by implementing generalized Differential quadrature method (GDQM). Accuracy of the employed approach is evaluated by a comparative study with the published studies. As a practical conclusion it is revealed that the orientation angle of the macrofibres can effectively compensate the lack of nano reinforcement as well as the absence of extensional load to overcome negative impacts of hygrothermal environment in an affordable cost. The influence of extensional load along two directions, nano/macro scale reinforcements and hygro-thermal environment on the vibrational response of the MHCALRP is completely elucidated through the parametric investigation.

Impact of in-plane follower force on the frequency response of the hybrid angle-ply laminated system via dynamic simulation and generalized differential quadrature framework

This paper deals with dynamic stability of functionally graded (FG) nanocomposite annular plate reinforced with graphene platelets (GPLs) subjected to a periodic radial compressive load in thermal environment. On the basis of modified Halpin–Tsai micromechanics model, the effective elastic modulus of structure is estimated. Taking into consideration of the first-order shear deformation theory, the governing motion equations are obtained via the Hamilton’s principle. Afterward, the partial differential motion equations are discretized into a system of Mathieu–Hill equations by utilizing generalized differential quadrature method. Furthermore, the Bolotin’s technique is applied to determine the principle unstable zone of functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) annular plate. The accuracy and validity of current study are examined by comparing the fundamental natural frequencies of structure with those published in available literature. Eventually, to investigate the influences of number of layers, GPLs patterns and their geometric, boundary conditions, geometrical parameters of structure, static load factor, and temperature change on the DIRs of FG-GPLRC multilayer annular plate, different parametric studies are performed.

Dynamic buckling of functionally graded multilayer graphene nanocomposite annular plate under different boundary conditions in thermal environment

This article concerns with free vibration analysis of spinning sandwich cylindrical shells with functionally graded (FG) graphene/aluminum (Al) face sheets and honeycomb core exposed to an axial magnetic field. Lorentz magnetic force is derived by using Maxwell’s relations. The face layers are made of multi-nanocomposite sheets. Each sheet is composed of an Al matrix reinforced with graphene platelets (GPLs) that are uniformly distributed through the sheet thickness. The effective material properties of the face layers of the spinning sandwich cylindrical shells are derived employing the modified Halpin–Tsai model. The honeycomb core layer is made of hexagonal aluminum cells. According to the first-order shear deformation theory and Hamilton’s principle, five governing equations are obtained involving Lorentz force. Frequencies of the present model are analytically derived from the equations of motion. The present outcomes are examined by introducing some comparison examples. The effects of the geometric parameters, magnetic field parameter, GPLs weight fraction, core-to-face thickness ratio, circumferential wave number, axial wave number and spinning speed on the vibration of spinning sandwich honeycomb cylindrical shells are numerically discussed. 

An axial magnetic field effect on frequency analysis of rotating sandwich cylindrical shells with FG graphene/AL face sheets and honeycomb core

This paper combines third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) and modified couple stress theory (MCST) with the principle of total potential energy to analyze the size-dependent buckling behavior of a functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) rectangular microplate of variable thickness subject to non-uniform biaxial compression when resting on an elastic medium. To determine the thickness qualities of the material, the extended rule of mixture was applied. In the context of microplate buckling in the presence of small length scale effects, the three kinds of Carbon Nanotube (CNT) distribution—(a) UD, (b) FG-O, and (c) FG-X—were used and compared. The equations governing various combinations of simply supported or clamped boundary conditions have been solved using the differential quadrature method (DQM). The correctness and precision of the solutions have been compared to another study. A numerical study was conducted to examine the dependence of buckling load on several parameters, including percentage change of thickness, length scale parameter, nonuniform edge loads, boundary conditions, volume percentage of the CNTs, CNT distribution, and elastic medium parameter. The results of their effects are presented in this paper.
