The management of the type 2 diabetic patient with hypertension - too late and too little: suggested improvements.

TL;DR: The need for more aggressive management strategies for patients with comorbid hypertension and type 2 diabetes, regardless of their baseline blood pressure, is suggested, including the early use of combination therapy with blockers of the renin–angiotensin system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Review: Inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system, with particular reference to dual blockade treatment:

TL;DR: In chronic heart failure patients, the angiotensin AT1-receptor blocker (ARB), valsartan, was added to the maximum recommended dose ofACE-I and significantly reduced the BP response to infused Ang II, even though the high-dose ACE-I had been given for over three months.
Journal ArticleDOI

Combination of enalapril and low-dose thiazide reduces normoalbuminuria in essential hypertension

TL;DR: Therapy with enalapril/hydrochlorothiazide at 20/6 mg and atenolol at 50 mg once daily reduced blood pressure similarly in patients with essential hypertension and suppression of urinary albumin excretion within the normoalbuminuric range was observed.
