Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrasound guided percutaneous drainage of abdominal abscesses in the hands of the clinician: a multicenter Italian study
Giuseppe Civardi,Giulio Di Candio,Antonio Giorgio,Orlando Goletti,Tiziano Ceragioli,Carlo Filice,Marcello Caremani,Luigi Buscarini +7 more
TL;DR: The study confirms the high clinical efficiency and safety of ultrasound guided percutaneous drainage, even when performed directly by the clinician, and the sonographic guidance showed similar efficacy, more manageability and lower costs than other imaging techniques and it should be preferred whenever possible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liver stiffness assessed by transient elastography in patients with β thalassaemia major.
Giovanna Ferraioli,Raffaella Lissandrin,Carmine Tinelli,Luigia Scudeller,Federico Bonetti,Mabel Zicchetti,Filomena Longo,Mauro Murgia,Stefano Bernuzzi,Marco Zecca,Paolo Casula,A. Piga,Carlo Filice +12 more
TL;DR: Patients who had never been infected with HCV showed significantly higher LSMs than controls, compared to controls, and β thalassaemia major patients had a significant increase in LSMs independently from HCV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Controversy concerning role of ultrasonographic lipoatrophy assessments in HIV patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
The current role of abdominal ultrasound in the clinical management of patients with AIDS.
Enrico Brunetti,R. Brigada,F. Poletti,Laura Maiocchi,A. L. Garlaschelli,Rosario Gulizia,Carlo Filice +6 more
TL;DR: This paper reviews the wide variety of applications of abdominal US and stresses its importance in the management of a complex and changing condition, particularly in settings where other more expensive imaging techniques are not--and will not be for a long time--available.
