Assessment of trace metals contamination in estuarine sediments using a sequential extraction technique and principal component analysis

TL;DR: Fractionation of the metals Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn was performed for samples collected from eight locations in the Poxim river estuary of Sergipe State, northeast Brazil, using the 3-stage sequential extraction procedure proposed by the European Community Bureau of Reference (BCR) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of BTEX, PAHs and metals in the oilfield produced water in the State of Sergipe, Brazil

TL;DR: In this paper, a study was carried out to evaluate preliminarily the BTEX, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and metals contents in produced water samples taken from effluents of the Bonsucesso treatment plant located in the city of Carmopolis, North-east of Brazil.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosorption of Cr(III) using in natura and chemically treated tropical peats.

TL;DR: The physicochemical characteristics of three Brazilian peats were investigated using elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and studies of Cr(III) biosorption based on adsorption isotherms, showing that adsorptive efficiency was associated with the amount of organic matter present.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of trace metal concentration in feathers of seabird (Larus dominicanus) sampled in the Florianópolis, SC, Brazilian coast

TL;DR: Levels of Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Zn, and Pb increased with age, and the concentrations of essential trace elements in L. dominicanus had lower values than those reported for their northern Atlantic counterparts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metals and acid volatile sulfide in sediment cores from the Sergipe River Estuary, Northeast, Brazil

TL;DR: In this paper, the acid volatile sulfide (AVS), simultaneously extracted metals (SEM) and metals were studied in sediment cores from the Sergipe River Estuary, Brazil.
