Bouncing cosmologies in Palatini f(R) gravity

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the early time cosmology of fðRÞ theories in Palatini formalism and study the conditions that guarantee the existence of homogeneous and isotropic models that avoid the big bang singularity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isotropic and Anisotropic Bouncing Cosmologies in Palatini Gravity

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of nonsingular bouncing solutions in the early universe was studied in isotropic and anisotropic Palatini f(R) cosmologies.
Journal ArticleDOI

A standard method for the routine sampling of terrestrial diatom communities for soil quality assessment

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a standardized sampling protocol for terrestrial diatoms and test the spatial variability of the communities to ensure the representativeness of the samples obtained, using metal cylinders (O 5.6 cm) to extract soil cores.

Avoiding the Big Bang Singularity with Palatini f(R) Theories

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the Big Bang singularity can be replaced by a cosmic bounce without violating any energy condition, and that the bounce is possible even for presureless dust.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mayamaea petersenii sp. nov., a new diatom from European aerial habitats and a brief appraisal on the morphological diversity of the genus

TL;DR: The analysis of samples taken in different aerial microhabitats in Europe revealed the presence of a new and interesting small-celled naviculoid diatom species, previously misidentified as Sellaphora saugerresii, and its generic placement in Mayamaea is proposed.
