Journal ArticleDOI
Comorbidities and risk of mortality in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Miguel Divo,Claudia Cote,Juan Pablo Torres,Ciro Casanova,Jose M. Marin,Victor Pinto-Plata,Javier J. Zulueta,Carlos Javier Gutiérrez Cabrera,Jorge Zagaceta,Gary M. Hunninghake +9 more
TL;DR: A simple disease-specific comorbidities index (COTE) helps assess mortality risk in patients with COPD and increases in the BODE and COTE were independently associated with increased risk of death.
Journal ArticleDOI
COPD comorbidities network
Miguel Divo,Ciro Casanova,Jose M. Marin,Victor Pinto-Plata,Juan P. de-Torres,Javier J. Zulueta,Carlos Javier Gutiérrez Cabrera,Jorge Zagaceta,Pablo Sanchez-Salcedo,Juan Berto,Rebeca Baz Davila,Ana B. Alcaide,Claudia Cote,Bartolome R. Celli +13 more
TL;DR: A network-based analysis was applied to explore the associations between multiple comorbidities in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients and non-COPD controls and found there were more nodes and links in COPD compared with controls after adjusting for age, sex and number of subjects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of persistent blood eosinophilia: relation to outcomes in patients with COPD
Ciro Casanova,Bartolome R. Celli,Juan P. de-Torres,Cristina Martínez-González,Borja G. Cosío,Victor Pinto-Plata,Pilar de Lucas-Ramos,Miguel Divo,Antonia Fuster,Germán Peces-Barba,Myriam Calle-Rubio,Ingrid Solanes,Ramón Agüero,Nuria Feu-Collado,Inmaculada Alfageme,Alfredo de Diego,Amparo Romero,Eva Balcells,Antonia Llunell,Juan B. Galdiz,Margarita Marín,Amalia Moreno,Carlos Javier Gutiérrez Cabrera,Rafael Golpe,Celia Lacarcel,Joan B. Soriano,José Luis López-Campos,José Luis López-Campos,Juan José Soler-Cataluña,Jose M. Marin +29 more
TL;DR: In patients with COPD, blood eosinophils ≥300 cells·μL–1 persisting over 2 years was not a risk factor for COPD exacerbations and high eOSinophil count was associated with better survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential Effect of Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea, COPD Assessment Test, and Clinical COPD Questionnaire for Symptoms Evaluation Within the New GOLD Staging and Mortality in COPD
Ciro Casanova,Jose M. Marin,Cristina Martínez-González,Pilar de Lucas-Ramos,Isabel Mir-Viladrich,Borja G. Cosío,Germán Peces-Barba,Ingrid Solanes-García,Ramón Agüero,Nuria Feu-Collado,Miryam Calle-Rubio,Inmaculada Alfageme,Alfredo de Diego-Damia,Rosa Irigaray,Margarita Marín,Eva Balcells,Antonia Llunell,Juan B. Galdiz,Rafael Golpe,Celia Lacarcel,Carlos Javier Gutiérrez Cabrera,Alicia Marin,Joan B. Soriano,José Luis López-Campos,José Luis López-Campos,Juan José Soler-Cataluña,Juan P. de-Torres +26 more
TL;DR: The CAT and the CCQ have similar ability for predicting all-cause mortality in patients with COPD, but were inferior to mMRC dyspnea scores, which are suggested to be useful for the new GOLD grading classification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic evaluation of COPD patients: GOLD 2011 versus BODE and the COPD comorbidity index COTE
Juan P. de Torres,Ciro Casanova,Jose M. Marin,Victor Pinto-Plata,Miguel Divo,Javier J. Zulueta,Juan Berto,Jorge Zagaceta,Pablo Sanchez-Salcedo,Carlos Javier Gutiérrez Cabrera,Santiago J. Carrizo,Claudia Cote,Bartolome R. Celli +12 more
TL;DR: In this population of COPD patients, the BODE index had a better survival prediction than the ABCD GOLD categories and the COTE index was complimentary and significantly improved outcome prediction.
