SARS-CoV-2 Subgenomic N ( sgN ) Transcripts in Oro-Nasopharyngeal Swabs Correlate with the Highest Viral Load, as Evaluated by Five Different Molecular Methods.

TL;DR: In this article, five CE-IVD kits were compared in terms of their capability to detect both synthetic SARS-CoV-2 viral constructs (spiked in TMB or PBS medium) and targets (N, E, RdRp and Orf1ab genes) in twenty COVID-19-positive patients' swabs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spectrum of Germline BRCA1 and BRCA2 Variants Identified in 2351 Ovarian and Breast Cancer Patients Referring to a Reference Cancer Hospital of Rome.

TL;DR: The aim of this study was to report the incidence and spectrum of BRCA1/2 variants observed in BC and/or OC patients tested in at Policlinico Gemelli Foundation Hospital, the origin of which is mainly from Central and Southern Italy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Challenges in LC-MS-based metabolomics for Alzheimer's disease early detection: targeted approaches versus untargeted approaches.

TL;DR: A review of the most recent studies in which LC-MS-based metabolomics has been proposed as a powerful tool for the identification of new diagnostic biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease can be found in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood presence of circulating oncofetal fibronectin mRNA, by RT-PCR, does not represent a useful specific marker for the management and follow-up of thyroid cancer patients.

TL;DR: The presence of onfFN transcripts in several normal and cancer tissues, along with non-thyroid biological fluids or cells, does not allow the use of this marker for cancer monitoring, and indicates that onf FN cannot be considered a marker specific for thyroid cancer presence.
