Escherichia coli Bloodstream Infections in Patients at a University Hospital: Virulence Factors and Clinical Characteristics
Ana Paula Daga,Vanessa Lumi Koga,João Gabriel Material Soncini,Caroline Martins de Matos,Marcia Regina Eches Perugini,Marsileni Pelisson,Renata Katsuko Takayama Kobayashi,Eliana Carolina Vespero +7 more
TL;DR: E. coli isolated from the bloodstreams of patients at the University Hospital in Brazil showed a high prevalence for the siderophore yersiniabactina (fyuA) and PAI IV536 and was the phylogroup that had a higher prevalence of VFs and PAIs; however, in this study, a considerable number of isolated bacteria were classified as group E.

Autoregulation of blood flow drives early hypotension in a rat model of systemic inflammation induced by bacterial lipopolysaccharide
E. H. Moretti,Abner Cardoso Rodrigues,Bruno V D Marques,Leonardo T. Totola,Caroline B. Ferreira,Camila F. Brito,Caroline Martins de Matos,F. A. da Silva,Robson A.S. Santos,Luciana B Lopes,Thiago S. Moreira,Eliana Hiromi Akamine,Luiz A. Baccalá,André Fujita,Alexandre A. Steiner +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors found that early development of hypotension following injection of bacterial lipopolysaccharide is brought about by a fall in vascular resistance when arterioles are still fully responsive to vasoactive agents.
