Exposure to Inhalable, Respirable, and Ultrafine Particles in Welding Fume

TL;DR: Concentrations were mainly predicted by the welding process and were significantly higher when local exhaust ventilation was inefficient or when welding was performed in confined spaces, and substitution of high-emission techniques like FCAW, efficient LEV, and using PAPRs where applicable can reduce exposure to welding fume.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Pump Pulsation in Respirable Size-Selective Sampling: Part I. Pulsation Measurements

TL;DR: Pulsations generated by personal sampling pumps modulate the airflow through the sampling trains, thereby varying sampling efficiencies, and possibly invalidating collection or monitoring, are characterized and the possibility of shifts in cyclone sampling efficiency due to sampling pump pulsations is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

114 Development of High Volume Personal Aerosol Samplers

TL;DR: In this paper , a set of prototypes was designed to go into testing and first test results were shown, either in comparison with validated samplers or in terms of the sampling efficiency in dependence of the aerodynamic diameter.
