Influence of oxides on friction in hot rolling: Experimental investigations and tribological modelling

TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction between oxides formed on a work roll grade and the coefficient of friction established with a strip steel usually rolled by this roll grade was studied. But the authors focused on the formation and growth of the oxide scale.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of the friction and wear behavior of hot work tool scale: application to the hot rolling process

TL;DR: In this article, a high temperature pin on disc tribometer is used to measure the friction coefficient and wear of hot working rolls. But the wear and friction behavior of the oxides appearing on the surface of the hot working rolling is not well known.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of oxide scales influence on wear damage of HSM work rolls

TL;DR: In this paper, an approach is proposed to assess the coupled effect of oxidation and friction on the overall tribological behaviour at high temperature. But this approach does not aim to reproduce strictly rolling conditions, but only to analyse the chemical and mechanical response of roll grades regarding thermal and mechanical stresses involved in hot rolling.

Forged roll meeting the requirements of the cold rolling industry and a method for production of such a roll

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a forged roll for use in the cold rolling industry and a method of producing a forged rolling as described, which has a steel composition, by weight, with 0.8 to less than 1% C, 0.6 to 1.6% Mo, more than 1.0 to 3.0% V, the remainder being Fe and impurities.

Forging roll meeting requirement of cold rolling industry and method for manufacturing the same

TL;DR: In this paper, a forging roll for use in cold rolling industry in the field of forging roll, and a method for manufacturing the forging roll is provided, which comprises a steel composition and a microstructure that comprises: tempered martensite with retained austenite at a ratio of less than 5% per volume.
