Conservative versus surgical treatment of venous leg ulcers: A prospective, randomized, multicenter trial
Wijnand B. van Gent,Wim C. J. Hop,Marinus C. van Praag,Albert J. Mackaay,Edith M. de Boer,Cees H. A. Wittens +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that patients with medial and/or recurrent ulceration should receive surgery combined with ambulatory compression therapy, and a dedicated center should provide care for those patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endoscopic versus open subfascial division of incompetent perforating veins in the treatment of venous leg ulceration: A randomized trial
TL;DR: Endoscopic division of incompetent perforating veins is equally as effective as open surgical exploration for the treatment of venous ulceration of the lower leg but leads to significantly fewer wound healing complications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrasound-accelerated catheter-directed thrombolysis versus anticoagulation for the prevention of post-thrombotic syndrome (CAVA): a single-blind, multicentre, randomised trial
Pascale Notten,Arina J. ten Cate-Hoek,Carsten W. K. P. Arnoldussen,Rob H. W. Strijkers,André A. E. A. de Smet,Lidwine W. Tick,Marlène H. W. van de Poel,Otmar R. M. TL;DR: This study showed that additional ultrasound-accelerated catheter-directed thrombolysis does not change the risk of post-thrombotic syndrome 1 year after acute iliofemoral deep-vein thrombosis compared with standard therapy alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of venous ulcer disease
TL;DR: This review examines the prevention and treatment of venous leg ulcers and is based mostly on evidence from observational studies and some reviews and meta-analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subfascial endoscopic ligation in the treatment of incompetent perforating veins
TL;DR: Subfascial endoscopic ligation of incompetent perforating veins by use of a mediastinoscope is a relatively simple technique with a low postoperative complication rate and a low recurrent ulcer rate which makes it a valuable method for treating incompetent per forating veins.
