Assessing landslide characteristics in a changing climate in northern Taiwan

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed landslide characteristics under extreme precipitation with regard to present and future scenarios, in order to analyze the effects of climate change on landslide activities, and established empirical relationships between landslide-area characteristics and rainfall conditions according to rainfall-induced landslides during past typhoon events.
Journal ArticleDOI

Projected increase of the East Asian summer monsoon (Meiyu) in Taiwan by climate models with variable performance

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted model evaluation and diagnosis based on the EASM lifecycle over Taiwan and identified higher and lower skill groups were identified from 17 Couple Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) models, with five models in each group.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bias correction of MRI-WRF dynamic downscaling datasets.

TL;DR: In this paper, a bias correction method that uses the quantile mapping method to a dynamic downscaled dataset originated from the Meteorological Research Institute (MRI) is presented, which selects daily solar radiation and hourly typhoon rainfall as target variables to be corrected because they are critical variables in hydrological and agricultural practice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tsengwen Reservoir Watershed Hydrological Flood Simulation Under Global Climate Change Using the 20 km Mesh Meteorological Research Institute Atmospheric General Circulation Model (MRI-AGCM)

TL;DR: In this paper, a hydrological model simulation was conducted for the Tsengwen Reservoir watershed to understand the flood characteristics of a local region under climate change, and the model employed was the Integrated Flood Analysis System (IFAS), which has a conceptual, distributed rainfall runoff analysis module and a GIS data-input function.
Journal ArticleDOI

Future Landslide Characteristic Assessment Using Ensemble Climate Change Scenarios: A Case Study in Taiwan

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used two and four multi-scenarios at the base period (1979-2003) and the end of the 21st century (2075-2099) to collect the top-ranking typhoons and analyze the rainfall conditions of these typhoons in two catchments in northern Taiwan.
