Site-specific carbon footprints of Scandinavian wastewater treatment plants, using the life cycle assessment approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the carbon footprints of seven wastewater treatment plants using different technologies in Denmark and Sweden were evaluated, and the life cycle assessment approach was applied by using site-specific data including measured plant-integrated methane and nitrous oxide emissions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Greenhouse gases, radiative forcing, global warming potential and waste management – an introduction

TL;DR: A general introduction of the factors that define a GHG and the scientific background for estimating RF and GWP is provided, thereby exposing the lay reader to a brief overview of the methods for calculating the effects of GHGs on climate change.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transport and reaction processes affecting the attenuation of landfill gas in cover soils.

TL;DR: Simulations suggest that production of water or accumulation of exopolymeric substances due to microbially mediated methane oxidation can significantly reduce diffusive fluxes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tracer method to measure landfill gas emissions from leachate collection systems

TL;DR: Emission of CH(4) was one to two orders of magnitude higher during periods of decreasing pressure compared to periods of increasing pressure and a strong influence on emission rates caused by rise and fall in atmospheric pressure was observed when continuously measuring emission from a leachate well over a week.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physico-chemical characterisation of material fractions in household waste: Overview of data in literature.

TL;DR: This study provides an overview of physico-chemical waste characterisation data for individual waste material fractions available in literature and thereby aims to support the selection of data fitting to a specific scope and theselection of uncertainty ranges related to the data selection from literature.
