A fuzzy Bayesian network approach to improve the quantification of organizational influences in HRA frameworks

In this article, two criteria are suggested to inspect whether a model of geospatial information diffusion is valid to fill in the missing observation in a gap unit. The first criterion serves for inspecting a gap unit in the study area, from which a sample is taken to train the model. The second criterion serves for a gap unit outside the area but nearby. The standard deviation of the trained model plays a key role in the former. The valid radiance determined by the maximum distance between the units of the sample point passed the test and the center of the study area plays an important role in the latter.

Being easily understood and implemented for resource allocation or task assignment, FIPA Contract Net Protocol (CNP) has been widely applied to kinds of Multi-Agent System (MAS). Basing on a typical extension to the original CNP, which was named as Contract Net with Confirmation Protocol (CNCP), this paper made two further extensions to CNP by the ideas of Threshold and Degree of Availability (DoA). CNCP enabled the agents to make proposals or accept offers in a continuous time, but it also increased the risk of getting sub-optimal deal or nothing for individual agent. Our research is just aiming at relieving this risk. The idea of threshold comes from the fact that: no matter how much proposals one agent sent out, it will get only one task to do at last. By setting a proper threshold, we can save many unnecessary computational costs in making or evaluating proposals. The concept of DoA is derived from the principle of Maximum Expected-Utility (MEU). With this concept, one agent will evaluate proposals not only by the required costs, it also takes the DoA of a participant as an important factor in choosing its best deal, so initiators can act in a more rational way. We also presented an under-consideration idea "Deadline", which might become another feasible way to increase system effectiveness and efficiency.

Further extensions of FIPA Contract Net Protocol: threshold plus DoA

To transform formal coordination models to computational models is still a barrier in current coordination study. In this paper we proposed a way of modeling coordination problem on coordination knowledge level in order to implement (coordination) reasoning of BDI agent. Then a distributed coordination-reasoning framework on this knowledge level was (given,) and taking a taxi driver problem for example, we presented this framework in an individual agent, which proved the possibility to transform formal coordination models to computational models.

Distributed Coordination Reasoning with BDI and Knowledge Level

Bayesian network is considered to be an important method for the expression and reasoning of uncertainty in artificial intelligence research field. At present Bayesian network is applied to diagnose faults in system safety domain, but as one of various types of contributing causes, fault diagnosis is unable to evaluate hidden weaknesses systemically behind accidents of which the harmful effect is seldom considered as well. Therefore with Bayesian network being an approach of accident analysis, a three-layered Bayesian network topological model is proposed on the basis of risk factor-accident-accident hazards according to accident-causing theory. Moreover the linked relationships between the layers, the constituent elements and their descriptions at each layer and the model construction are expounded. Finally the feasibility and effectiveness of this accident analysis method is illuminated through a practical analysis example of a natural gas spherical tank.

A bayesian network approach to accident analysis

Researchers have recognized multi-agent systems (MAS) as being a promising means to cope with distributed and complex problems. However, how to analyze and design an agent-based system in practical environments is still difficult. Based on the inherent consistency between objects and agents, MAS and human social organizations, we propose an approach using comparatively mature object-oriented (OO) methodologies and tools (mostly UML) to model MAS from the point of view of organization depiction. This paper uses a distributed logistics management system (DLMS) as an example and describes a method to model MAS based on extended UML from the following three aspects:•extracting roles for agent organizations based on the theory of use cases,•depicting the static organizational structures of MAS based on the semantics and syntax of class diagrams, and•extending collaboration diagrams, sequence diagrams and state chart diagrams to portray the interactive behaviors among agent roles and the reasoning behaviors within agent roles themselves.

Exploiting object-oriented methodologies to model MAS on organizations

Since the connotation of "agent" is consistent with that of "object", it is a promising way to model multi-agent systems (MAS) by making use of the object-oriented technology. After analyzing UML's basic modeling theory and MAS' organization based modeling thinking, we give a modeling method of MAS based on extended UML in three aspects, i.e., the definition of roles in an agent organization, the depiction of its static structure and the description of dynamic behaviors. Along with the method, a distributed logistics management system is analyzed as an example.
