Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of lead exposure on growth and bone biology in growing rats exposed to simulated high altitude.
María I. Conti,Antonela Romina Terrizzi,Ching Ming Lee,Patricia M. Mandalunis,Clarisa Bozzini,Adriana Piñeiro,María P. Martínez +6 more
TL;DR: The findings revealed growth retardation and damages on femoral and mandibular bones that predispose to fractures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of chronic lead exposure on bone mineral properties in femurs of growing rats.
Pedro Alvarez-Lloret,Ching Ming Lee,María I. Conti,Antonela Romina Terrizzi,Santiago González-López,María P. Martínez +5 more
TL;DR: Femur from the lead-exposed rats had higher carbonate content in bone mineral and (Ca2++Mg2++ Na+)/P ratio values, although no variations were observed in crystal maturity and crystallite size, which indicates a similar mechanism of bone maturation normally associated to age-related processes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic lead poisoning magnifies bone detrimental effects in an ovariectomized rat model of postmenopausal osteoporosis.
Ching Ming Lee,Antonela Romina Terrizzi,Clarisa Bozzini,Adriana Piñeiro,María I. Conti,María P. Martínez +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that Pb intoxication magnifies the impairment in bone biomechanics of OVX rats with a consequent enhancement of the risk of fracture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic Lead Exposure Alters Mineral Properties in Alveolar Bone
Pedro Alvarez-Lloret,Cristina Benavides-Reyes,Ching Ming Lee,María P. Martínez,María I. Conti,Alejandro B. Rodríguez-Navarro,Santiago González-López,Alberto Pérez-Huerta,Antonela Romina Terrizzi +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of chronic lead exposure on the mineral properties of alveolar bone were investigated using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques.
