The finite impulse response (FIR) filters are one among the digital filters which are widely proposed in field programmable gate array implementations. This paper presents the design of 4-tap and 8-bit fast low-pass FIR filter design under FPGA background using hardware description language (HDL). This design leads many applications like biomedical signals, pattern recognition, image processing and communications fields. The main attention of this FIR filter is focused towards the noise and performance constraints. In light of FPGA to accomplish FIR filter, not just considered the fixed capacity DSP-explicit chip constant, yet in addition the DSP processor adaptability. The blend FPGA and DSP innovation can further improve integration, increment work speed and framework abilities.

Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters are one of the most widely used in FPGA implementations owing to its linear phase Property and stability The main attention of FIR filter implementation is towards noise and performance constraints This paper, deals on design 8 bit and 8 taps FIR filter for filtering of Noise level and band pass filter for stabilizing the frequency Analog to Digital convertor (ADC) has been with input frequency of 500Hz, sampling frequency of 2000Hz and the amplitude of 1mV Peak to Peak, which is given to Field Programmable Gate array (FPGA), in which the FIR filtering operation takes place, which results in optimization of noise by 13% comparing to the internal noise from analog signal and consume time less time period of 1342ns as compared to other active algorithm and the output from FPGA is fed to Digital to Analog Converter for verifying the original input signal

Synthesis of FIR Filter using ADC-DAC: A FPGA Implementation

In Digital signal processing, Filter is used almost in all devices. Filters are used to extract the useful part from the input signal and the required part of the signal is reached to the receiver. For linear characteristics devices, FIR filter is used which is nothing but a combination of multiplier and adder. In this paper FIR filter has been designed by using a reconfigurable Booth multiplier and a Carry Look Ahead Adder. Combination of Booth multiplier and Carry Look Ahead adder makes FIR filter faster. RTL synthesis has been done by using Xilinx 14.3 and simulation is done by using Modelsim 6.4a. Proposed MAC unit is efficient in terms of speed and complexity and has achieved maximum frequency as 307.977MHz. We have achieved delay for MAC unit as 3.247ns and power 0.242 watt.

Design of FIR Filter using reconfigurable MAC unit

Abstract The author offers a power-efficient multichannel low-pass filter for digital image processing based on the cascade multiple accumulate finite impulse response (CMFIR) structure in this study. The CMFIR filter was created using the outputs of a linear time-invariant system (LTI), which was built using a cascaded integrator comb (CIC) and a MAC low-pass filter. The sample rate convertor based on CIC filters effectively conducts decimation or interpolation. The sample rate convertor with the CIC filter can only accommodate narrowband transmissions and so cannot be utilized for wideband signals. The MAC architecture-based sample rate convertor is a good solution for high-bandwidth signals, but it uses more resources like registers and flip-flops, which increases power consumption. Here, the CMFIR low-pass filter acts as an interpolator, introducing a sample to boost the image's resolution. CMFIR is a useful tool for addressing the issue of aliasing during sampling. In addition, the genetic algorithm was used to increase the filter's resource utilization and power consumption efficiency.

A Power-Efficient Multichannel Low-Pass Filter Based on the Cascaded Multiple Accumulate Finite Impulse Response (CMFIR) Structure for Digital Image Processing

Finite Impulse Response (FIR) Filters is a digital filter which is used in digital signal processing like communicate-on, biomedical signal processing, image processing, etc. These Digital filters are used to filter out the part of signal that is redundant or damages the original signal. In this paper we have implemented a design of digital FIR filter using Finite State Machine (FSM). In this approach it is possible to reuse the hardware implemented so that the area will be reduced significantly, and also the delay and power will be reduces as compared to the MATLAB - Simulink based FIR Filters. In this design the filter coefficients used are fixed-point coefficients, which will reduce the truncation and computation complexity.
