TL;DR: Hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents were used for the first time for the removal of metal ions from non-buffered water and it was shown that the extraction occurs via an ion exchange mechanism in which all transition metal ions could be extracted with high distribution coefficients, even for high Co2+ concentrations and low DES/water mass ratios.

Thermophysical Properties and Solubility of Different Sugar-Derived Molecules in Deep Eutectic Solvents
TL;DR: In this paper, the solubility of sugar derived molecules furfural (FF), hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF), dimethyladipate, glucose, fructose, cyclopentanediol,cyclopentanone, and tetrahydrofurfurylalcohol was experimentally screened in six different DESs (five hydrophilic and one hydrophobic) at 30-50-80 °C, for the first time.
