Friendship and Delinquency: Selection and Influence Processes in Early Adolescence

TL;DR: This article analyzed longitudinal data on friendship networks and delinquent behavior collected in four waves of 544 students in 21 first grade classrooms of Dutch secondary schools and found that adolescents select others as friends who have a similar level of delinquency compared with their own level.

Ethnic segregation in context : Social discrimination among native Dutch pupils and their ethnic minority classmates

TL;DR: No strong effect of classroom ethnic composition on social discrimination was found, whereas neighborhood composition was shown to clearly influ- ence social discrimination: ethnic minority members were more, and majority members less inclined to discriminate in neighborhoods with more ethnic presence.
